About National Taiwan University

National Taiwan University (NTU) is one of the top-ranked universities in Asia and the number one university in Taiwan. The university enrolls over 31,000 students and offers up to 8,000 courses each semester. CSU IP students are admitted to NTU as exchange students and take a combination of Chinese language courses and NTU courses taught in Chinese or English.

All students are required to take a Mandarin Chinese language course each semester. Students with less than one year or no previous study of college-level Mandarin Chinese can take courses taught in English in their academic major at NTU, as well as taking NTU General Chinese courses taught through the Department of Chinese Literature. NTU offers Applied Chinese courses designed specifically to meet the needs of non-native speakers to acquire Chinese language skills. Some of the English courses available at NTU include coursework in Asian/Taiwan studies, economics, political science, literature, business, environmental science, and engineering.

Students with near-native fluency in Mandarin Chinese may take regular university courses in Chinese and courses in English. Students also take NTU General Chinese and Applied Chinese courses.
